The convective heat transfer coefficients of 3%(vol) Fe3O4/water nanofluids were investigated at different inlet temperatures
under the perpendicular
uniform and gradient magnetic field and parallel magnetic field. Based on the non-dimensional analysis of the energy equation for the Fe3O4/water nanofluids
the effect of the magnetic field instead of the thermal motion of magnetic nanoparticles dominated the thermal transfer performance of Fe3O4/water nanofluids. The maximum increase of the convective heat transfer of Fe3O4/water nanofluids were 5.2% and 9.2%
respectively
under perpendicular
uniform and gradient magnetic fields. The maximum decrease of 4.8% for the convective heat transfer was observed under parallel and uniform magnetic field. In addition
the convective heat transfer coefficient increased with the temperature of Fe3O4/water nanofluids. The experimental results agreed well with the non-dimensional analysis.
