Gas-liquid mass transfer processes are widely used in chemical industry. Studies of gas-liquid mass transfer enhancement have vital significance in many aspects
including shortened process
reduced equipment size
lower investment
lower operating cost
etc. High gravity (also called Higee) technology with a core device of rotating packed bed (RPB) is one of the effective technologies for mass transfer enhancement. Based on research and development in 30 years
significant progress has been made in high gravity process intensification technology in fundamental and application researches
especially in these processes limited by mixing or mass transfer rate. According to rotor structure
such as block packing rotary rotor
two rotating disks rotor
rotating and static disk combined rotor
research progress and theoretical achievements about mass transfer intensification in RPBs are reviewed. The topics of future development of gas-liquid mass transfer enhancement are also suggested.
