The heat tranfer and pressure drop performance of cross flow longitudinally finned tube banks heat exchanger are reported. The experimental information are presented and the influence of pitches is analyzed. The transversal pitch is a chief factor in flow friction of the tube banks. Increasing the transversal pitch can greatly decrease flow friction. Both transversal pitch and longitudinal pitch influence the heat transfer of longitudinally finned tube banks to the same degree. So a better performance of the tube banks can be obtained by increasing the transversal pitch in terms of lower flow friction and higher heat tranfer. For a longitudinally finned tube bank of St/D =3. 29 and SL/D =1. 6
the heat transfer coefficient can be increase by 9%-12. 5% and flow friction can be decrease by 15%-65% comparedwith the smooth tube bank of the same pitches. This paper also analyses the lower flow friction characteristcs of longitudinally finned tube banks and their enhanced heat transfer.
