A new experimental device was designed for fouling measurement
and the mechanism of calcium carbonate scaling on a heated surface was thus studied by using simulated hard water . A deposition-free removal mechanism of scaling was proposed and a mathematical model based on turbulent burst theory was derived with the combination of Hassons ionic diffusion model and the rate of scaling predicted with the model agreed well with the experimental data .
