The effect of the modification by acetic acid solution on calcination/sulphation performance of limestone was investigated at O2/CO2 atmosphere. The calcination product was characterised by means of BET method and mercury intrusion methods. The phase composition of sulphation product was analyzed quantitatively by XRD.The results show that the conversion is much higher for sulphation of modified limestone(ML) than for that of original one
which is confirmed by XRD phase quantitative analysis. There exists an optimum temperature in which the conversion of ML sulphation is the maximum. With increase of SO2 concentration the reaction rate goes up at the initial stage and conversion of ML sulphation also increases. With increasing acetic acid concentration the conversion also raises but the extent of the increase is various for different limestone. The modification by acetic acid solution leads to the development of macropore structure of limestone
