Mixed-mode chromatography is a new kind of chromatography technology for bioseparation. The special ligand combines two or more interaction modes
commonly hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions.Mixed-mode chromatography can directly capture target protein from moderate-ionic-strength feedstock without the need of dilution or other additives
which certainly improves the process efficiency and reduces the cost of primary recovery in the downstream process. This paper reviews the current advances in mixed-mode chromatography
as well as technical history and some applications. The future development and application areas are also discussed.
