By analysing the discharge characteristics of flammable gas explosion
an expression was derived for the proper venting area for spherical and cylindrical vessels withstanding internal flammable gas explosion. A series of experiments were carried out with C2H4/air mixtures and rupture discs in four cylindrical vessels. The experimental results show a good agreement with the theoretical results.
