The correlation equations of gas holdup in three different types of external-circulation-loop reactors are developed for air-water system. The resistance calculation for fluid flow in the loop results in a resistance equation. The gas holdup and liquid circulating rate for a given gas injection rate can be predicted with the correlation equations and the resistance equation
providing the basis for the scaling up of this reactor.
