The absorption of carbon dioxide into ammonia aqueous solution had been carried out employing a packed column.Four parameters characterizing the mass transfer performance
the gas-liquid interfacial area (aV)
the volumetric gas side mass transfer coefficient (kGaV)
the gas side mass transfer coefficient (kG) and the volumetric overall mass-transfer coefficient (KGaV)
were identified and investigated. It was found that aV increased slightly with the increasing gas flow rates
kGaV and kGincreased remarkably with the gas flow rates. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficients increased with the increasing ammonia concentration as well as the gas flow rate. The experimental results also showed that the resistance in the gas phase was small in the total resistance of mass transfer
the absorption of carbon dioxide into ammonia solution was mainly controlled by the resistance in the liquid-phase.
