In order to predict and simulate the course of the supercritical carbon dioxide extraction process
a mathematical model was developed by using the lumped parameter method to describe supercritical carbon dioxide(SC-CO2) extraction of clove oil based on the mass balances of essential oil in particle and SC-CO2. The model was simplified according to experimental results at various temperatures
pressures
particle sizes and CO2 flow rates. The coefficients of carbon dioxide density
particle size and CO2 flow rate in the model were calculated and tested experimentally. The simulated results showed that the model gave a good fit to the experimental data with average relative error of 6. 88%—57. 78%.
