In terms of the Flory-Huggins polymer solution theory as extended by Koningsveld and Kleintjens
an algorithm for calculating critical points based on experimental cloud point curves has been developed for the polyethylene-pfopane system. Results suggest that the method developed in this work can be easily used and the calculated critical points agree fairly well with the experimental data in the concentration range less than 10% (weight). In engineering design the method can be used to estimate critical points and cloud point curves in supercritical fluid fractionation of polymers (polyethylene-propane) .
