The preferential adsorption and encapsulation phenomena in ternary composites were investigated by studying the mechanical properties of the PP/GF/PA66
PP/GF/PET
PP/GB/PA66
PP/GB/PET and PP/PA66/PET composites. It was found that the polymer polarity played an important role in the interface formation during the processing. The polar inorganic fillers or polar polymer could be preferentially encapsulated by the polar polymer in the dipolar polymer matrix during the melted processing.Due to the preferential adsorption and encapsulation
the interface adhesion was improved and the mechanical properties of the ternary composites were also influenced by encapsulation. And better properties could be obtained after encapsulation.Furthermore
the relationship between encapsulation and interface tension was discussed.
